From Venice to Shanghai: Buccellati Unveils the Art of Timeless Craftsmanship
Following its resounding success in Venice in 2024, the extraordinary world of Buccellati has arrived in the heart of Shanghai. This major exhibition, hosted at the Shanghai Exhibition Center, features an exquisite selection of jewelry and silver curated by Alba Cappellieri, with the creative concept and executive production developed by Balich Wonder Studio. The installation masterfully merges classical elements—such as stately columns, rigorous symmetries, and harmonic proportions—with cutting-edge multimedia languages. This dialogue between eras reveals the genesis of Buccellati’s masterpieces and the refinement of techniques handed down through four generations, reinterpreting the “classic” through a distinctly contemporary lens.
The journey begins in “The Buccellati Generations,” an introductory hall where the butterfly, a symbol of transformation and continuity, guides visitors through a reflection on identity and time. This leads into an intimate space conceived as a reconstruction of the Buccellati family’s private studio. Entitled “An Italian Family Story,” this room showcases vintage photographs, memorabilia, and correspondence, weaving a narrative that inextricably links tradition, creativity, and entrepreneurial vision.
The narrative continues with “Manmade Wonders,” a series of thematic environments exploring the Maison’s artistic inspirations. The journey moves from “Wonders for Special Occasions,” showcasing historical evening bags alongside new designs by Andrea Buccellati, to “Wonders of Beauty and Proportions,” which celebrates the profound bond between the goldsmith’s art and architecture. After exploring the “Natural Wonders” section, visitors enter an immersive corridor titled “The Buccellati Craftsmanship,” designed to showcase the meticulous labor behind every piece.
The experience culminates in “The Gallery of the Icons,” a metaphysical gallery suspended between the past and the future, celebrating the Maison’s most renowned high jewelry and artisanal techniques. This grand project was inaugurated with an exclusive Gala Dinner on December 6, 2025, and is open to the public at the Shanghai Exhibition Center from December 7, 2025, until January 5, 2026.
